Peach Vanilla Fruit Smoothie

53 g Replace Vanilla flavoured powder

75ml cold skimmed milk

175g vanilla flavoured yoghurt

2 peach halves (canned or fresh)

½ small paw-paw

1 teaspoon honey (optional)

60ml clear apple juice (100% pure)

Blend all ingredients together and enjoy chilled.

Serves 1-2.

Banana and Strawberry Breakfast Smoothie

53 g Replace Vanilla flavoured powder

200ml cold skimmed milk

2 teaspoons oat bran

8 medium strawberries (fresh or frozen)

1 medium ripe banana

½ teaspoon vanilla essence

1 teaspoon honey

Blend all ingredients together and enjoy chilled.

Serves 1 -2.

Apple and Cinnamon Smoothie

50g Replace Diabetic Apple Cinnamon flavoured powder

200ml cold skimmed milk

60ml clear apple juice (100% pure)

1 medium apple (red or yellow, peeled)

2 teaspoons oat bran

¼ teaspoon cinnamon

Blend all ingredients together and enjoy

Serves 1-2

Vanilla Caramel Smoothie

50g Replace Diabetic Vanilla Caramel flavoured powder

175ml fat free plain yoghurt

75ml cold skimmed milk

¼ medium banana

½ teaspoon caramel essence

Blend all ingredients together and enjoy

Serves 1 -2

General guidelines for people with diabetes:

  • Eat small regular meals throughout the day
  • Never skip a meal
  • Include fibre in the diet
  • Drink 6-8 glasses of water per day
  • Include protein in each meal containing carbohydrates
  • Avoid foods high in saturated fats (animal fats)
  • Use low fat foods
  • Include “good” fats into the diet, this includes omega-3, omega-6 and omega-7
  • Make an effort with your meals to keep it interesting
  • Always have something small to snack on in case of hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar)
